Beauty Revived Most Beautiful Mothers Campaigns
Tampa Motherhood Portraits
Meet Carrie Perk. She is a mother of five, who sadly lost her son Liam, in a tragic dog accident, in 2009 at the tender age of two. She was nominated by her childhood friend for her beauty, her resilience and the beauty she has passed on to her children and community through their loss. Amazingly, her story and one of our photo session images graces this year cover! Such an honor for Carrie, and honestly, for me. I am so glad I gave back with this session and can help Carrie, and hopefully others through her story and the I am Beauty Revived campaign to see the beauty in the chaos and grace and strength around us (see the cover or purchase the magazine HERE)!
Here are Carolina’s words about her dear friend she nominated, and ultimately why she was chosen for the Beauty Revived Most Beautiful Mothers Campaign.
“When this happened, my heart broke, all of our friends’ hearts broke, the community was truly touched. Instead of retreating and hiding, she designed a beautiful playground in the most amazing setting in her son’s memory, in our home town, Cape Coral. (She is a playground designer!) This playground is a happy place, using colors and themes that will represent him forever. She started dog awareness groups that would hopefully avoid her situation repeated for others. You’d think that after something like this happens, you’d shut down or I don’t know what, I really can’t imagine. Well Carrie continued her life, honoring Liam all the while, and had three more little girls. Total of 5 kids overall, now she’s got 4 little girls to love and spoil, all blond and beautiful, I’m sure hearing about what a beautiful boy Liam was. She’s always been a sweet person and amazing friend ever since I met her back in middle school. I draw strength from her when I’m down and look at how she’s continued living, even in the darkest moments. I would love if it she could be selected as your “mom” to photograph, she deserves it.”
True beauty that can inspire others, when many would understandingly retreat, to me is true strength. Being a mother means continually carrying on, no matter what happens, we have little lives that constantly need and want us. Carrie now works hard to educate parents about dogs, their behaviors, what to do when approached by an excited or loose dogs you are unsure of. This work is not only giving back to her own community, but reaches around the world. Read more about Liam’s memory and the Perk’s non-profit organization, The Liam J. Perk Foundation, on their website http://www.liamjperkfoundation.org/. There are many resources for families, as well as links to other helpful organizations to keep families informed and safe. The pictures on the page from their last family photo session when Liam was here, and only big sister Lyla was a baby, and the last time they had family photos done. I hope these pictures we took will also make it to their page to continue to tell the story of this amazing mom and her beautiful family. The amazing playground the Perk’s designed and installed in Liam’s memory is also showcased on the website. It is truly a gorgeous park with the colors representing Liam used throughout.
We had our Beauty Revived Most Beautiful Mothers campaign photo session on the most incredible night after days of rain. While I was hoping for sunny skies, but we actually were met with deep blue skies, and the most gorgeous sunny yellow wildflowers, both of which helped set off their blue and purple tones in their clothing and the girls’ most amazing blond hair. We wanted to incorporate Liam into the session, since this was their first professional photo session as a family since passed. We still wanted these photos to represent their whole family, so I asked Carrie to bring her favorite photo of Liam. She did that and it was a great way to remember him and for them to have family pictures now that included the whole family. While the focus of the session was on this beautiful mom, we also knew that family photos were going to be priceless for them so of course we included the whole family. Plus, I am first most a family photographer in Tampa, Florida, so I wanted to give my talents to this deserving family in the best way I knew how.
Do you want your own Motherhood session? Ask your hubby for the gift that keeps giving with priceless photographic memories this year. I do motherhood sessions year round and would love to do the same for you and celebrate your “beauty” too! Email Brooke@HamiltonCreekPhotography.com for more details, or see some basic pricing information HERE. I adore this out of focus wind swept moment and although it is not technically perfect, if you know me, you know how much I love the imperfection of it all! The same can be said about the family shot above…just embracing the chaos of life and imperfectly perfect moment!
