Happy Friday! I know we are still sweating in Florida, but fall is actually right around the corner. Inspired by fall, here is a what to wear guide for fall focusing on fall neutrals. The fall is definitely different from spring neutrals. In spring, neutrals brings to mind soft pastels. Moreover, fall neutrals are different from winter neutrals; which are just softer whites and creams and no dominant color other than neutral neutrals.
Fall neutrals pull from “fall” inspired colors, like rust, brown, mustards, and other colors that the leaves turn in the fall. They are still natural looking and neutral in that they will coordinate with gray, cream, beige, natural wood, ivory, etc. Although we are based in Florida and our palm trees don’t really change colors with the seasons, fall still is a season everyone can fall for, right? I mean, who doesn’t embrace all things pumpkin and apple cider!?!
Fal in Florida definitely usually is in the 80’s. So, that may mean family photos don’t require jackets and sweaters. But, you can still layer in different ways. Different textures for each family member is a good idea. You should be looking to mix fabrics when planning your family photos . Not everyone has to be in stiff fabrics, in fact, I recommend the opposite. Comfortable fabrics like jersey material and cotton, maybe a bit of soft sweater materials, just not too heavy. These little sweater jumper/rompers for the littles available at Target this year are to die for! And your little one shouldn’t be sweating in it either.
Layering is a great idea, too. You can bring a jean jacket, or blazer and then take them off after a few minutes, too. It is a great way to get varied looks in one small change. You don’t have to go out and buy new either, pull from your closet when possible! Most moms have a scarf or cardigan in their closet. Dad’s may have a jacket they can bring to dress it up for a few shots, and take it off to be comfortable and ready to play and interact with their kids in other shots. A fun hat is also a fun way to incorporate different looks easily into your sesison. One of my favorite sessions that definitely brings in some fallish colors and neutrals was this fun family session and you can see more images on their blog post HERE.
This family also incorporated fall neutrals perfectly last year too. This looks great in an urban setting as well as relaxed on a comfy quilt.
