Fashion Tip Friday: What to Wear Family Photos Tampa

Let’s get inspired, shall we?

I love this time of year. I am busy booking Tampa family photo sessions and preparing for sessions! Helping clients find the right outfits for their locations, or their right locations for their outfits is part of the Hamilton Creek Photography experience. It is one of my favorite parts of my job! Picking new Tampa photo locations every year, espcially for my long time clients, can be hard. Especially when we have to book so early in the season. But, hopefully this planning time helps make things less stressful for everyone.

I made a Pinterest board last year for clients to look at with clothing from several websites, with direct links to actual clothing they could buy. This was super helpful for clients. Instead of looking for inspiration on Pinterest and seeing a pin and finding it is from over 10 years ago doesn’t help. This year, I have done it again! I tried to hit several different price points, stores, and styles. I will also continue to add to the 2019 what to wear board as the weeks go on as more stores get more fall and holiday clothing in!

So, for the next few Friday’s I will highlight a few current 2019 fall clothing inspiration ideas. These will center around different local Tampa Bay photo locations. This what to wear family photos Tampa edition will help not only clients, but also anyone getting photos done and just needing a bit of inspiration.  If you haven’t yet booked your family session, I do have limited edition mini-sessiosn for the Tampa area still open. Some locations are booked up, but several weekday sessions are still open and a couple weekends, too. I will do a studio specific post next week since I am offering holiday minis indoors at a Tampa photo studio this year, too.

First off, let’s talk green spaces! If you know my work, you know I love a good green space to photograph families. My biggest recommendation for green space is stay away from too much green in your clothing options. This includes turquoise and teals that have green undertones. If you are going to bring in some green to the outfits, make sure you stand out. You don’t want to blend into the setting. This can be with accessories, or prints, or just different tones of greens than the lush backdrops. Greenery spaces in and around Tampa that I will be at this year for fall and holiday mini sessions include: Medard Park, Lettuce Lake Park, John Chesnut Park, Davis Island and the green spaces around Winthrop Town Centre.  Want to see what is still open, head over to the blog post about fall & holiday mini sessions this year – http://hamiltoncreekphotography.com/tampa-holiday-mini-sessions-2019-family-photos-tampa/.

Okay, so for green spaces, how do you really pop in your family photos? Colors like red, yellow, blue, orange, purple and brown all go well with the color green. But, let’s not just pick all those colors in solid color outfits. Let’s first start with a fun print that will work with green. I particularly love mustard mixed with maroon as another colrful accent. Or you can go more bold with fuschia/magenta tones. You can then add in neutrals, like cream, gray or navy/dark jeans. Below, all of the images are current clothing and you can find them on my Pinterest board and follow the link to the store to find out more – https://www.pinterest.com/HamiltonCreek/what-to-wear-families/fall-2019/.
