Motherhood | Mommy and Me Photo Session
A few weeks ago, a mom contacted me for a special session with just her and her daughter after we could not fit in her family for holiday pictures last year. We finally decided on the yellow “flower” field for the pictures, and I am so glad we did! Not that I would not have loved to photograph her whole family again, there is just something magical about photographing motherhood to me. I could just do this and be quite happy! In fact, this session was also picked up for blog publication by Lemonade & Lenses, a resource for support and a learning environment for photographers, see more on their blog, here (http://www.lemonadeandlenses.com/hamilton-creek-photography/).
I am so excited for my upcoming Mother’s Day mini-sessions this upcoming weekend to focus on a mother’s love and the bonds between mother and child. I don’t know if you are the same way, but I of course, being a photographer, tend to take 99% of our family pictures, even with the cell phone camera, so I am not generally in the picture, except the gratuitous selfie with the boys and I every once and a while and sometimes I can get my hubby to snap a photo or two with my real camera. Maybe that is why photographing motherhood is so important for me. The light was magical as well, which was awesome because just as we were heading to the field the clouds came in a for a short while, but you can see the light came through and was just glorious. The best part of having a full session dedicated to mommy and me pictures is that we were able to document even more moments than I can in a 20-30 minute mini-session, and I even used a bit of video with the books we incorporated into the session. I had to stop myself from tearing up because this book was also one of my boys’ favorites at that age, and I could just imagine them making the animal noises as well. If you are here for these lovely ladies, please leave them some love below with a comment!
