Downtown Tampa 10th Birthday Photo Session
I feel so lucky when I get to document milestones at this age. 10 year olds don’t always get their own photo session. I know as kids get older, maybe we start only doing the once a year update the family photo session, and that is amazing, too. But I still feel like it is important to fill in the “in between” years of childhood. So many people get that first year of photos, then maybe two and three, and maybe into kindergarten, and then it feel like sometimes we skip to 15 or 16 or maybe even all the way until high school graduation to document our kids on their own. I love doing some in between sessions to celebrate those years that are maybe a little less documented. Now, don’t get me wrong, they are probably documented in cell phones and selfies but a photo session just for them is really special. Plus, how many cell phone selfies are you printing to enjoy in the real world, with a tangible piece of art celebrating your kiddo?
Research by HP and Chatbooks supports that displaying family photos is a “powerful way to strenthen family relationships” and parents also found that their children also “experience increased self-esteem and a stronger sensee of identiy from looking at printed photos.” (article https://chatbooks.com/printed-photo-report
This fun session was a mini-session but there was nothing mini-about it. She brought her personality and inabitions to try all the fun ideas to get her moving and a sense of her personality, too. I love this age because so often kids get more self concious as they get older and are a little less excited to run, jump, dance and just be kids. That is why that ten to thirteen year age is so fun to document as they still have a bit more “kid” in them to savor and document in photos. I do have a mini-session at the beach set up for May (click HERE for details) and will likely set up one more summer mini-session date for July before the fall family session season is in full swing. If you have a kid with a big milestone, take a look and see if you can make the May session date.
Or send me an email if you have an idea for a fun summer mini-session this July. I will also throw it out there that I would love to document more summer fun this year since we are not traveling as much as we normally will be. I am looking for families going out on a boat, or hanging in their yard/pool or just a daytime beach session without the fuss of portraits, but rather a fun sandcastle session or wave jumping with me in the ocean with you, so reach out if you want to set that up, too! These don’t have to be at sunset, which is hard in summer with long days and little ones! I will offer 20% off the digital negative add-on as well for those types of summer fun sessions through August! Reach out for more pricing details!
We were waiting for a photo when a group of hundreds of bikers descended on downtown Tampa. Which honestly made for some of my favorite photos from the session. The authentic expressions and moments of urban life brought two of my favorite photo subject together!
