As a twin mama, there is something so special about photographing other twin families. This extended family session that I documented while this family came together on vacation in Largo was no exception. They had not one but two sets of twins, so double the double fun! Right? We met at their lovely Airbnb in Largo, Florida, a perfect big backyard where everyone had room to play and soak up that Florida sunshine. Even in early spring, it was hot, but you can barely tell through all their smiles. Thankfully, I don’t have to be photographed while photographing others. I was dripping by the end of this session, but it was all worth it!

I promise, no one cried the entire time, but I know that feeling if a little one is cranky for even a few minutes it can feel like a failure while we are there at the session. If a kid needs a break, they get a break. If a kid wants to be silly, they get to be silly! If they need a hug, do it! Trust me, no one, especially nobody who has lived through toddlers at a photo session, can say every minute is perfect. Perfection not required. We have fun throughout the whole process. We can all relate to meltdowns, tears and even a bit of sass now and then from our kids, right? I NEVER expect perfect kids. Nope. I don’t even expect perfect parents. I am just there to keep photographing you and finding the beauty in the chaos. Especially with little ones. They are really in charge during the session, and we all have to go with the flow. Not once did this family feel flustered; neither did I. I knew the moments in between, the gorgoues light, and the connections we were able to enjoy were coming through in the photos. So if you think you can’t do a family photo session because of how your kids may act, let me reassure you, I have seen it all, I welcome the unexpected and absolutely capture the wonderful magic in between. This is real life. Real moments. They all matter.
