Three newborns, three outdoor photo sessions and so many years of photo memories! The Riverhills Park location in Temple Terrace is definitely a hidden photo spot gem for Tampa. It has water, and lush trees, ferns, little paths and lots of gorgeous back lighting. Here are just a few favorites from this lovely outdoor newborn and family photo session. I could definitely see this spot working for a senior looking for water views and greenery and who may not want to go to Lettuce Lake because it is a busier spot. With littles we didn’t explore as much as we could have but with older kids or teens it would be a great spot for a full session for a lot of natural variety in a small-ish area!

I met up with this gorgeous family a few weeks ago on the most amazing night weather and light wise in a long time. We had the absolutely perfect weather for their springtime family pictures in Tampa. I loved their wardrobe choices and the location really helped set off their rich details against the greenery and blacks. I always get nervous when clients say “we are all wearing black” as a photographer who loves colors, but this time the all black outfits absolutely worked. The little bits of sparkle, the details and rich snippets of color among the black really worked so perfectly. Also, Hillsborough River State Park is now officially back open, so I absolutely recommend making a spring day of it here soon. You don’t need to do photos, just pack a water bottle, maybe some snacks and a sense of adventure and you can really explore a great park in the Tampa Bay area.

This family is so blessed to have two recent Bulls in the family. One gril who graduated late last year and one who is about to head to USF full-time. I adore this sweet family and their pups are the most chill dogs I have ever photographed! I loved that doing their senior photos in downtown Tampa meant the dogs were welcome at the photo session, too. This location is a great urban setting for students in Tampa.

I adored meeting this family near the Don Cesar Hotel on Pass-a-Grille Beach for some family vacation pictures. They were in town together and the backdrop was a perfect beach spot for them and took them back to memories they had when they met in college nearby. The colorful spring wardrobe for this beach session was so vibrant, too. Just like their personalities. I had fun documenting their connections and personalities alike. When mom wanted to get a few of their daughter’s love of gymnastics I was happy to snap a few of just her, too.

Summer vacation family photo sessions are in full swing here in Tampa Bay! I feel like I am at Indian Rocks Beach at least twice a week for family vacation beach pictures. Honestly, it feels incredibly lucky to be paid not only doing what I love photographing families, but also being paid to go to the beach. This family was just too fun to document while they were here on vacation at Indian Rocks Beach. They have made many summer family memories visiting our awesome Tampa Bay area beaches from the Midwest and I am so glad they found me to help document their family time at the beach together.

This session right here just goes to to show you that fancy dresses, extra costly outfits that match perfectly are not neccessary to get great family photos. If your family is a jeans and t-shirt kind of family, of course that is cool in my book. I won’t make you wear anything you don’t love. I don’t make you pick from a client closet of fancy dresses. No, you can be yourselves. Of course I am here for some guidance but generally there is something in your closet that can work. You don’t all have to match. But rather coordinate is better. However, being authentically you and documenting that in lovely photos is always my goal. No matter what your wardrobe is.

Vacation family photos, yes please! This spring has full of the most wonderful families spending time together at the beach for fun, relaxed, connected family photos. This Indian Rocks Beach family photo session had some moody skies and one little moody kid. But that never stops us from having a good time and ultimately getting happy and fun family photos, too!

Extended family portraits are just the best to be part of as a photographer. I love being able to deliver both traditional portraits and more relaxed moments that fit each individual family unit’s personality as well. This large family photo session at John Chesnut Sr Park was a casual and pretty backdrop for this vacationing family to Tampa Bay.

This family photo session was the one that almost didn't happen this year. A hurricane made us change our plans from Palm Island to Tampa, and then another hurricane changed our date again, but it was like the stars aligned for this South Tampa family photographer session at Davis Island Beach. The light here is so special this time of year, it worked perfectly with their neutral wardrobe palatte.

Urban family photo session, yes please. The biggest hit this fall and first location snatched up off the schedule right away. This lovely family has been coming back to me for ten years. I think this was one of my favorite sessions of theirs yet. They fit perfectly in this urban setting. Oh, and if you you are looking for a cool urban photo shoot next year, the flowers that bloom in the spring really make the riverwalk come alive more, too. It is a great spot for high school senior sessions or fun family photo sessions any time of year!
